Mental illness

It holds an unfounded stigma.

To slander

Or degrade

To discriminate.

Because of illness

Makes one quite the pathetic enigma.

Should it not be a crime?

To intentionally

Revictimize?

Based on the state

Of a diagnosis

Of the mind?

Yet they do

Lower themselves

To a lesser

Of a snail’s slime.

Which reflects only a mirror

To them.

With that

I am perfectly fine.

  1. Yes! I think so! I’m always looking for ‘alternative’ words, phrases etc. Pts(d) I made up, but would still like an alternative. I bracketed the (d), because disorder implies I am confused about the trauma. I’m not confused and I didn’t do it! So how is it I get a ‘diagnosis’ and labelled, for someone elses crime? Sorry lol … rant over … I’d just had this conversation with someone the other day πŸ˜‰

    • Cool freaking take on this subject. I love it. I’m so glad you shared this. You’re so right!!!!!! I get a label because someone else is a fucking criminal and then I get judged because of that label. How is that ok?!!!! So glad you commented this.

      • πŸ™‚ It’s the same with ‘disabilities’ etc, that name and all the alternatives. They imply that the ‘disabled’ are the ‘other’ and the abled are the majority and are ‘better to be’, if you know what i mean. It makes us the ‘deficit’ – well thats how i see it. I like finding empowering alternatives πŸ˜‰

      • I got my degree in early childhood development and teaching children with disabilities and got this certificate at the college I went to. Anyway we called it “differing-abilities” and I loved that term.
Because we differ but that does not mean we are less. So many assumptions are made with me just being in my motorized scooter. I see the minds ticking, and I hear the questions asked to whoever they are next to ” what do you think is wrong with her” and if I hear it I go right up and tell them.
The abled are often the assholes where we have a level of empathy and compassion that they will never attain so I say that we are far more advanced even with the far greater challenges

      • Oh I like that one!!
And yes I completely agree …
and some of the most ‘impaired’ people I know (as in extremely sick in the head) are the most ‘normal’ looking, on the outside!

      • Fuckers. Sick fucks. Call them as they are. Sick fucks. I have no problem with that. When we censor the reality of what they are doing and who they are we are doing an injustice to the victims

      • Open forum for cussing here! Feel free. If a person earns the title of fucker then it should be used! I find it hilarious my friends from Ireland and London have different words. A friend of mine that is in my muscle disease group taught me aussie curse words. She said I get 10 points for using the word bloody fucking tosser. Yeah I don’t know what it means but it sounds pretty insulting so pedophiles are now bloody fucking tossers!

  2. Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
